2025 LTC Funding and Reporting: Updates and Essentials

Long-term care (LTC) funding and reporting are constantly evolving. This annual webinar series ensures that you and your organization stay current not just on the fundamentals but also on the latest programs, requirements, and tools for sound and informed budget planning and financial management.

This is the only education program in Ontario dedicated exclusively to LTC funding. It features presenters from the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC), the sector, and member organizations. Topics include funding envelopes, budgeting best practices, the finer points of reporting, and how to optimize your work with key assessment and data systems at a time when these are in transition.

Day 1
Thursday, September 4, 2025

> Understand the different funding envelopes, associated policies and changes, including per diem funding, occupancy and acuity-adjustment policy and cash flow policy. 
> Review requirements and get Ministry updates on funding for 2025/26 and beyond related to staffing supplementary/four hours of care funding and other staffing funding programs. 
> Deepen your knowledge about best practices and strategies for budget planning and reporting as well as how to keep track of different funding buckets.

> Review the annual reporting process and how to manage bad debt, including updates to the LTC Home’s Annual Report (formerly known as ARR) template, reporting of one-time Other Accommodation (OA) funding, and supplementary funding. 
> Receive an overview and key details for working with the Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS), the Ontario Healthcare Financial and Statistical System (OHFSS), and learn how trial balance data is used, such as through the Health Indicator Tool (HIT). 
> Find out about lessons learned from a member’s home on their process strategy. 
> Hear about the benefits of AdvantAge Ontario’s Data and Analytics Service, its annual LTC Expenditures Report and HR Benchmarking Report and insights from this work, and how you can benefit from this members-only data that is not available anywhere else.

> Update your knowledge about data available from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and how to use it and the InterRAI Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) assessment system.
> Get an overview and updates about the Case Mix Index (CMI), how it impacts LTC funding, and learn about the relationship between it and the Resident Assessment Instrument. Also, get updates from the Ministry of Long-Term Care on the transition to the new InterRAI LTCF.
> Enhance your understanding of how to use and interpret your home’s resident assessment data, how to maximize your CMI and use it to estimate your funding, and hear how to prepare for a transition to the InterRAI LTCF assessment system.

Karine Taillefer is the Manager of Program Evolution at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (Cyber Centre). She is responsible for enabling the programs strategic direction and growth to meet the needs of Canada and Canadians.

Karine held previous leadership roles at the Cyber Centre. Most recently, Karine managed the design and development of cyber security learning solutions, within the Cyber Centre Learning Hub, focused on reducing Canada’s cyber security performance gaps.
